Puppy personality test

Dogs also have unique personalities. Your personality can be proven at a very young age by testing. When you know your dog’s personality, it will be easier for you to train him.

While it is not true that a puppy test will allow you to buy a perfect dog, it can definitely help you bring home a mentally stable and calm one. However, experience and training techniques are much more important in the physical and mental development of the dog.

There are certain conditions of the puppy test and we will look at them.

– The test should be done in a quiet place that does not have external distractions for the dog. The place must be unfamiliar to the dog.

– The test should be performed on the puppy when it is between 5 and 7 weeks old. At this age, puppies are not completely attached to humans, yet their personalities are already built.

– The test must be carried out by a person who is unknown to the puppy, which will ensure that the results are impartial and reliable.

There are several tests to evaluate the personality of the dog. Let’s take a look at one of those tests. This test is known as the Campbell test. This test rates the puppies according to 5 different criteria.

– Social attraction

– Ability to follow

– Response to obligation

– Social domination

– Acceptance to be lifted

To test social attraction, the person taking the test checks the dog’s reaction by sitting at a distance from him. It is checked if the dog approaches the person, if so, how does it keep the tail, high or low? It is checked whether the dog explores its environment or simply tries to run away.

To check the dog’s tracking ability, the tester will simply place a puppy next to him and walk around a bit and then check whether or not the dog is following him. The other things to check are if the dog jumps while walking or tries to bite the person’s ankles. Does the dog keep his distance while following you? Or is it just walking away?

To check how the dog responds to the obligation, he is placed on his back on the ground and a hand is placed on his chest. It is checked if the dog tries to bite the hand violently and run away, or shows an initial protest and then calms down or if it just stands still and tries to lick the person’s hand. Make sure to do this on a soft surface or you may hurt the dogs on the back.

During the social dominance test, the tester will simply sit close to the puppy and tap him gently. Clues will come from whether they are trying to bite, climb onto a person’s body, or simply try to run away from the fitting room.

Finally, to test how the puppy reacts when it is picked up. The dog gets up off the ground keeping the arms under the chest so that the puppy does not see the person. Here too it is tested whether the dog violently tries to bite the hand and run away, or shows an initial protest and then calms down or remains quiet and licks the person’s hand.

The combined score of all areas determines the overall personality of your dog. If you are new to keeping a dog, you should try to bring a dog that is not very dominant, as it can be difficult to handle.
