When choosing a cockatoo, choose the bird that chooses it

One belief shared by pet owners around the world is: “When you choose a bird, choose a bird that will choose you.” This bird is believed to be cheerful, curious, and easily approach you.

And before you buy a cockatoo, make sure you know what you’re getting into. Unlike other pets, “cockatoos require a lot of time and attention.” They will also expect you to interact with them often.

This makes it even more essential that you and your pet are compatible with each other!

Cockatoos

First on the list are Cockatiels. Cockatoos are considered the most popular pet of the cockatoo species around the world. These gentle and friendly birds make excellent pets. They are not moody or demanding like other species of cockatoos. Therefore, they can be a child’s first pet.

If they are brought home when they are young (8 weeks or older), they can be taught to speak, as well as to perform tricks such as cartwheels and cartwheels. If fed by hand like a chick,

quickly settle into your new home. They love to have an audience and will keep you entertained all the time. These birds are amazing fliers. So be sure to keep their wings trimmed nicely.

But at the same time, they should not be confined in the cage all the time. Let them out for a while. Just make sure all windows and doors are closed, fans are off, and electrical appliances like stoves and irons aren’t running while they’re out of the cage.

Umbrella cockatoo

The umbrella cockatoo is a very popular pet. They are gentle, loving and you will love them from the moment you look at them. They get very attached to their

owners. They love to please and you can teach your pet many tricks.

Although they are not good talkers, you can train them to dance to the music. They need a lot of physical attention and, like a human baby, they need to be cuddled, caressed, and

played with. They are not noisy birds and can be mischievous one minute and quiet the next.

Galah cockatoo

Galahs are commonly kept pets and even wild-caught galahs make good pets. They are loving and kind. Galahs are usually pale pink and deep pink. They are good pets. They are independent birds and not needy like other species. They are happy to play alone and require less time outside the cage.

Galahs make wonderful pets, especially when raised by hand. They are outgoing, affectionate, friendly, playful and intelligent. And like other cockatoos, you have to keep them

entertaining and busy at all times. They are fast learners and can be trained to perform various tricks.

You often see them at bird shows, where they fly through various hoops. Galahs are good talkers and males tend to have better speaking ability than females. Their ability to speak, however, is not on par with that of Sulfur-crested Cockatoos or Corellas. So if you are a workaholic, Galahs might be the right choice for you!

Goffin’s Cockatoos

Goffin’s cockatoo is the smallest among the cockatoo species. Goffin’s cockatoos are sociable, curious, and carefree birds. They are fun loving and do extremely

smart farts. Many owners claim that their personality resembles that of dogs. They are active birds that need to keep busy at all times. They are more independent

than other species of cockatoos and they don’t mind spending a little time alone. They do not spoil easily and if properly trained they make fabulous pets. They love physical contact and they love to have their heads scratched. You can train them to mimic human speech, but they can be very loud and are not recommended as pets for apartment dwellers.

Palm cockatoo

The Palm Cockatoo is the largest among the different species of cockatoos. It is a striking black bird with red cheeks. Palm cockatoos are friendly, intelligent, and loving.

company. They make unique and wonderful pets. They are not as loud as some of the other species of cockatoos. In fact, their brood call is the only loud, loud sound they make. Palm cockatoos are highly sought after pets, but in reality, they are kept only in small numbers in mostly private collections.

Moluccan cockatoo

Unlike Little Corellas and Goffins, this species is one of the largest in the cockatoo family. The birds are pink to salmon in color with an attractive orange crest. They are wonderful pets because they are usually very intelligent, friendly, and affectionate. They are quite adept at speaking and performing various tricks.

Little corella

As true as the name implies, little Corellas are one of the smallest species of cockatoos. Little Corellas are playful, intelligent and fair-minded birds. They have been kept as pets for many years. These birds can be trained to speak and perform a variety of tricks. They also love to dance and chew. Like all cockatoos, they become very attached to their owners and need to keep busy.

Sulfur-crested cockatoo

Sulfur-crested cockatoos are affectionate and friendly. Although they have a tendency to become a one-man pet, they make excellent companions.
