How to Make a Black Light Poster: Your Complete Guide

A blacklight sign is designed with fluorescent inks that respond to ‘black’ light or ultraviolet light. Under normal circumstances it appears bright and vibrant, although when exposed to ultraviolet rays it glows amazingly in the dark. Here is a simple guide to making one.

Fluorescent ink attracts ultraviolet light and discharges it as a very vivid, visible light. This makes the poster appear to glow once the black light is turned on. You need to be sure to browse through the variety of craft paints that are fluorescent, so you can create them with your favorite shades and shades.

You will need paintbrushes, fluorescent poster paints, permanent marker (black), scissors, stencils, pictures, cardstock, glue, pencil, and tape. You can buy the templates or you can make your own. If you want to design your template, just tape or paste your preferred image or photo on a piece of cardboard and you get the main shapes and images. Mark your templates on a cardstock. Use a standard graphite pencil and trace the figure hard enough to create a clear line.

Making a blacklight poster will require you to use a permanent marker to darken the lines. This will result in having a bold border between your chosen images. Gather your poster paints. You then need to turn off the lights, open the blacklight, and evaluate the paintings. Please note that the colors that reflect under blacklight are the colors that will appear on your poster.

After selecting the colors, paint the shapes on your poster. Don’t forget to apply a fairly subdued color paint to the background of the poster. If you want it with a wild and attractive effect, it is best to use UV paint. Although it appears clear under normal light, it glows boldly when exposed.
