Becoming a complete mixed martial arts fighter

Mixed martial arts is an art that requires being well trained in various styles and it is not enough to train or specialize in a specific style of martial arts. This can make the entire process of becoming a well-rounded MMA fighter time consuming because not all academies train fighters in all styles. Actually, almost all the academies specialize in a specific style for the most part.

One of the most important parts of becoming a great mixed martial arts fighter is so well expressed in this popular line among fighters… “If you don’t prepare, you are preparing to fail.” This is a saying that you should always keep in mind if you want to become an MMA fighter, because discipline is what will get you the furthest in this sport.

It is also very important to be mentally fit for this sport. It is often said that half of the results a fighter gets from a fight depend on his mental stability, it is important to come to a fight strong, fearless and with no unfinished business, as this type of emotion can cause a fighter to lose the fight. A successful MMA fighter focuses as much on his mental health as he does on his skills and stamina.

This sport is not often called the most dangerous of all fighting styles for no reason, this is serious competition and to be a part of this sport you have to become a serious fighter. Mixed Martial Arts has also gained a lot of notoriety for the number of multidimensional fighters it features, many of the best fighters in the world have mastered many different styles of martial arts and when put together they all make for a sight to behold.

So here are the basic areas you want to focus on in development; For the stand-up aspect, you must gain experience in at least one of these styles, kickboxing, muay thai, karate, kung fu. Personally, I think for the boxing side, kickboxing or Muay Thai are better if you want to be a well-rounded fighter because these styles train you to use your fists for more than punching and that can be useful in the ring.

As far as the wrestling side is concerned, you need to look at judo, ambo, jujutsu, the Brazilian wrestling camp, and the very popular and well-respected Jiu jitsu or Wrestling Judo Jujutsu.

Once you establish a routine and start to see results, the best way to stay on top of your game in MMA is how dedicated you are to your training and how careful you are with your nutrition. These are essential for any MMA fighter. You can have the skills, but if you don’t have the nutrition, the outsiders will be against you.
