5 reasons to have a Siberian Husky

Siberian Huskies are some of the most beautiful and majestic pets you can own. In saying that, there are numerous pitfalls of owning a Siberian Husky that you need to be aware of. It is strongly recommended that you be aware of these dangers before making your purchase. Other than that, the following are the top 5 reasons that make the Sibe an almost perfect pet.

1. The most beautiful breed of dogs.

First of all, Siberian Huskies are by far one of the most beautiful dogs in the world. Nothing is more attractive than his bright blue eyes and shiny fur coat. In fact, walking around town or along the beach with a Sibe on a leash is sure to turn heads, leaving passersby gaping in wonder and envy.

Siberian Huskies can also come in a variety of attractive colors with both their eyes and coat. There are colors for all tastes. For starters, her eyes are either blue or brown, or a combination of both colors in each eye. As for the coat, Huskies come in a combination of white, silver, black, brown, and copper red. Huskies can also come in pure white or almost completely black.

Huskies are also large in size being a medium sized dog. They’re not the giant “wolves” like the dogs you see in dog-sled movies (that’s the Alaskan Malamute), and the Siberian Husky is one small dog you might accidentally step on.

2. They are great as active working dogs.

For those who own very active dogs, the Siberian Husky is the premier breed for working dogs, so they possess a great deal of energy and stamina. Huskies are excellent as working dogs, whether pulling a sled or as show dogs. But even without being “working dogs”, there’s nothing more fun than being towed behind a pair of Sibes!

Being towed on a bicycle is called bikejoring, while the same on skis is called skijoring. There are numerous clubs and organizations in most countries that participate in these types of activities and hold frequent races and events. If you want a dog that will keep you young and fit, the Siberian Husky would be the one. In fact, these dogs are happiest when they are active and working.

3. Works great as a family pet.

Most importantly, the Siberian Husky is very good as a family pet. The Sibe are very social animals with a great temperament and therefore they work very well with both children and adults. In fact, they are SO friendly that they will probably lick an intruder’s face just as much as their owner. (ie they are NOT a watchdog).

Huskies are known for their predatory instincts towards small animals, but this can be easily curbed by breeding the pup among other animals.

One of the main factors that makes the Siberian Husky a great family pet is his fun yet mischievous personality. They are not just a boring good dog who will obey all commands. A Husky will sometimes whimper and whimper, sometimes lick your face, sometimes try to get away, and sometimes sing (howl) or talk (try to talk!).

4. Works well with peers or in a group

If you’re happy to have multiple dogs on your property, then the Siberian Husky would certainly fit the bill. Sibes are pack animals and therefore do well when with a mate or within a group…in fact, some owners start their Husky collection and end up with more dogs than children!

There is nothing more entertaining than watching a pair of huskies tackle and tag each other. They will literally be kept entertained for hours as the whole family sits back to watch the Huskies in action instead of what’s on TV.

5. They keep very clean

Last but not least, one of the best things about the Siberian Husky is that they stay very clean year-round like a house cat, so they require very little bathing.

However, Huskies will shed ALL of their undercoat twice a year for a period of 3 weeks each time. This means that twice a year an important grooming job awaits you. BUT apart from those twice a year, the Siberian Husky practically does not lose hair. This can be compared to some dogs that shed year-round and constantly leave a fur-covered couch after sleeping on it.

Sibes are also typically kept free of body odor and parasites, while requiring very little trimming or trimming. Also, since Huskies have a survivalist ancestry in the wild, these dogs eat surprisingly very small amounts and can survive on much less than other dogs of the same size.
