Should you repair your appliance?

I want the public to know that the new machines that come out will not last as long as the ones that were built 10 or 20 years ago. No matter what brand it is: Kenmore, Whirlpool, GE, Maytag, you get the idea.

In my opinion, the oldest machines were built like tanks! They have fewer electronics and were built with better parts in my opinion. Before you buy a new machine, keep in mind that almost anything you buy today will have an electronic control board, and the more appliances in your refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher, or oven, the more things can go wrong. If your machine is in good condition and has been well maintained, then you should consider repairing your appliance. The cost of repair in most cases will be much less than that of a new machine. Also, most new machines won’t last as long as their parent’s. And I just recently found out that appliance manufacturers have lowered the warranty coverage on refrigerator sealing systems, some of them used to be over 10 years old and now only one year … what does that tell you?

For those of you who couldn’t convince and are almost out of the door to buy a new appliance, I have a couple of tips for you.

First, do home work, research the appliance you are going to buy. Do an online search on the appliance you want to buy to see if customers have a problem with it, and don’t just search the review pages, search some blogs, get the model number of the appliance you are thinking of buying, and do a seeking help. In Internet. (Example: help (your model #) washing machine) and see what appears on the Internet. I personally searched for an LG dishwasher that had 3000 complaints. Of course you can’t rule something out just because you have a couple of complaints.

Second, when you’re at the checkout ready to pay for your new machine, they’ll want you to buy an extended warranty on the appliance. If you don’t have a home warranty that covers your appliance and you spend a lot of money on the machine, you should get the warranty. Like I said, newer machines may have more than one control board and electrical and lighting connections can cause problems with these newer machines, and appliance makers aren’t putting twill guards on them, it’s another thing you could buy. what’s more.

Third, on the positive side. I can say that I am happy with the front load washers, they save a lot of water, when a front load washer fills up it only uses a few gallons of water compared to 10 gallons or more in a top load washer every time it fills . This could save you hundreds of gallons of water a year. Customers I’ve spoken to say it washes very well. On the downside, the repair cost could be high, so don’t forget about the extended warranty.

UPDATE: 10/17/09

If you are buying a new appliance, ask the company you are buying it from who will be the service company that will repair the product if you have a problem. We are finding in some areas that some manufacturers do not have licensed technology in many areas.

Thank you for reading.
