Bamboo pajamas – How to wash bamboo clothes

Bamboo, grown sustainably, produces a luxurious fabric that closely resembles rayon. It has emerged as one of the latest eco-fashion trends due to its ability to grow and regrow quickly. Whether you want sheets and towels for your home or t-shirts and pajama tops to wear, you can find bamboo or mixed products both in stores and online.

It is becoming a popular choice for clothing, especially among people who are concerned about the environmental damage that other plants grown for clothing, such as cotton, do to the earth. Since a soft and comfortable fabric can be made by processing this grass, it is a fantastic choice for anything from scarves to shirts to bamboo pajamas. However, it’s also very important to make sure you know how to care for your bamboo clothes to help them last.

When you wash your clothes, you should check the label inside your garment and follow the instructions the manufacturer provides there. But if the tag is lost or unreadable, here are some basic guidelines for washing and caring for your bamboo fabric. You, however, are responsible for your clothes. When caring for them, use your own common sense.

Bamboo is a natural fiber so it is prone to shrinking in hot water. And if it is handled roughly when washing, it can lose its shape. If you machine wash your clothes, use cold water and a gentle cycle. If you prefer to wash the garment by hand, do not be too rough when handling it. Also make sure any other clothes being washed at the same time are the same or a similar color, as natural fibers tend to absorb dyes easily.

The drying of the fabric made of bamboo must be done without excess heat, to avoid shrinkage. Air drying is best, although you can also put it in a dryer on the air dry setting with no heat. Also, do not use high heat on the garment if it needs to be ironed. Avoid steam and use a cool, dry setting instead.

Your clothing care instructions may be different if your garment uses a blend of different fibers or has a delicate construction. When washing any garment, including your bamboo pajamas, make sure the washing methods you use are good for the fabric. As long as you take care of them properly, your clothes will last you a while.
